Energy management

Monitored, rated and optimised.

Engineering-led energy and carbon reduction for commercial buildings: ongoing monitoring, independent ratings and in-use audits, backed by more than a decade of optimisation experience.

Ongoing monitoring

Energy bureau

An ongoing data monitoring service. Any available data, including AMR, EMS, BMS and as-built documentation, is reviewed for energy reduction opportunities, and the options are communicated to your site team.

Platform mobility

We work across whatever AMR and analytics platforms you already use, without asking you to switch systems.

Monthly in-person meetings

Face-to-face engagement that resolves issues faster than remote-only contact and builds a stronger relationship.

Always on call

Continuous monitoring, with London-based engineers who attend site to resolve complex issues alongside your M&E team.

System design reviews

We review hydraulics, ventilation and controls, benchmark them against standards, and validate improvements with AMR data.

Holistic implementation

Our engineers make the necessary BMS changes, drawing on our control-system integration expertise and supplier network.

Independent ratings

NABERS UK

Technik has been licensed for NABERS UK since October 2022, and our management team delivered more than 50 NABERS Australia ratings between 2012 and 2015.

NABERS UK rates the energy efficiency of office buildings across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Unlike EPCs or BREEAM, it combines a building's actual energy consumption with parameters such as area and operating hours to produce a rating from one to six stars.

Working with Technik
  • A holistic process that identifies complications early
  • Minimal demand on your site team
  • A clear rating-improvement schedule that addresses the barriers to a higher rating
  • Sub-metering guidance and low-cost pre-assessment ratings
  • Optimal star ratings, delivered cost-effectively
In-use audits

Energy auditing

We have more than a decade of experience designing, controlling and optimising the built environment. We collect live operational data to pinpoint optimisation opportunities, then use empirical evidence to validate theoretical assessments, so we identify feasible initiatives early and avoid time spent on impractical ones.

Our audits cover all landlord energy consumers and generators on site, in line with ISO 50002:2014. Typical areas include:

  • Large systems such as chillers, boilers and DHW, reviewed for decarbonisation, including capacities, connections, locations and practicalities
  • Ventilation assessed to CIBSE Air Conditioning Inspection standards
  • Pump-duty hydraulic analysis for energy and lifecycle-cost savings
  • Identifying space for heat pumps or other low-carbon alternatives
  • Heating-distribution suitability for alternative systems
  • Site metering reviewed for better energy management
  • BMS and EMS data analysed for issues from sensor failures to heating and cooling conflicts
  • Historical consumption analysed to build a site-specific net-zero-carbon roadmap

Reporting aligns with frameworks such as ESOS and SECR.
